May Contain Nutters
Phones Sportsman's debut album - his first recordings
since 1980!
On New Years night 2007 Phones Sportman sent a few
experimental recodings to Topplers Records... By February 2008 this
album was in the can!
Phones was a founding member of the seminal DIY band
Swell Maps and also released a solo single of strange, disturbing, twisted
pop in 1980.
He then put music to one side and concentrated on a
career in Geology. Now he is back and his songs are even more strange,
twisted and disturbing!
This album features two cover versions of songs by the legendary 'Nervous Norvous' as well as Phones' own compositions. Lyrics and photos are contained in the 12 page colour booklet. |

Arson & the Juggernauts
Phones Sportsman's second album
Only months after the release of 'May Contain Nutters'
Phones was back with this mini album. More songs about Hot Pants,
Wonderbras, Jowe Head, Radio DJs, Fatballs, Ladies of the Night etc
etc etc... Exotic sounds and absurdist lyrics, this is the Phones
Sportsman Band's finest moment!
Phones has also collaborated with his old Swell Maps bandmate Jowe Head under the name of The HeadPhones recordings of which may surface soon...
Scottish band The NoMen have provided some musical collaborations on both these albums and Phones returned the favour by writing lyrics and adding vocals to George NoMans solo album 'A Golden Hour of George the Baptist' (click the NoMen link for more details and to hear the album. |
