Who are the NoMen? - a loose collection of musicians who take original recordings from the late seventies DIY Punk era and make them their own. How long have they been doing this? - since 2003. Why don't they do their own songs? - They wrote one song once but it wasn't very good. Most of the musicians involved have played with other band who have only done original material. Adapting other people's songs is a way of avoiding the dreaded rock'n'roll EGO! What bands have the NoMen been involved with? - The Topplers, Nyah Fearties, The Jigs, The Deciders, Reverborator, G-Plan, Mongol Puppy, Electroluvs, Glue, The Yes Men, The Trashcan Sinatras, Sheep Worriers, Junkman's Choir, The Pop Ups, The Search Engines, etc What bands do they cover? - So far they have interpreted songs by Steve Treatment, Swell Maps (and all their individual members), Desperate Bicycles, Television Personalities, Robert Rental, Thomas Leer, etc... Have the original artists heard them? - In most cases yes! Where possible the NoMen have contacted the artist or their fanclubs and have always met with a positive response! Have they worked with any of the original artists? - They have backed Steve Treatment on his recent recordings and have collaborated with Jowe Head on his newest album.
